Based on your knowledge of for-profit universities, provide an analysis of the role of these universities in higher education with respect to corporate responsibility.
Corporate responsibility means that within an organisation, each
individual employee should contribute towards the growth of the
company along with following the core values/principle the
organisation follows/promotes.
The habit/culture of follwing any such principle would not be built
in a day. Its a continuous process and should be practiced
diligently.
Now, the above discussed processes can be started at the root
level. It means when the student has not yet entered the corporate
world and is still in the learning phase at University level, these
tricks and tools for a corporate responsibility can be imbibed
within them so that they can, from Day 1, in corporate world have
their impact shown to the organisation.
Role of for-profit
university
- Build a culture within
the univeristy as the students will face post their studies in the
corporate world. It is quite easier to implement for a for-profit
univerisity as the power lies to the shareholders.
- The final goal of a
for-profit university is to make money. Therefore, timely corporate
sessions can be arranged by them to provide a better insight of the
"Next World" they would be in. It would help students to get
prepared for corporate responsibility and have a help for economy
of the university (seperate fee can be levied or added in tution
fee)
- Universities can have
their inhouse development team, lets say an IT department which
functions exactly as a corporate organisation. Students can be
asked to go through a mandatory internship in the IT department to
get in-house hands on knowledge about corporate
responsibility.
- The curriculam can be
modified to include special mandatory credited subjects with
respect to corporate responsibility.
- Corporate culture can be
promoted even within the university campus. It means that certain
progammes can be started where students have to volunteer and lead
the programme teaching them core skills of managing and
handling
