Once the independent and dependent variables are identified correctly, regression analysis is often thought of as a Three Step Process:
How would you explain this three step process to someone who has no knowledge of regression analysis?
1.H0; 1=0
This is null hypothesis.If this is true.then the population mean of y is 0
E(y)=0+1x=1=0+0=0

1 is referred as slop.
if=0 then slop of regression line is horizontal.
2. If there is an association between x and 4.
then association is measure by correlation between x and 4. A correlation of r=0.9 suggest strong association between x and y.

regression analysis investigates the relationship between a dependent ( target)and

example;-
relation ship between rash driving and number of road accidents by a drver is studied through regression in this case.
1. ho: 1=0
if this is true than there is no
relation between rash driving and number of road accident
2.correlation is measure of association
or measure the strength how strongly rash driving also increases.
then rash driving also increases
3.regression coefficient tells that change inthe value of depentent variable i.e rash driving corresponding to the unit change inthe independent
variable i.e number of road accidents
