Expert Solution

On-demanded BI is the powerhouse of business intelligence, this type of intelligence makes use of internet for proper functioning thus reducing the hectic investment on hardware and other hefty components, it is a cloud bases saas. It not only reduces the cost but also offers more affordable, faster, and easier access to everyone.

on- demanded BI services are delivered over the internet for proper functioning thus it doesn't require investment data storage center or hardware parts. Not only that the deployment can be done with little lead time and set up cost is very less.

It has the ability to offer quickly collect, process, analyze, and assess business information. Thus companies making use of its affordability, easy to scale, and other abilities can give effective and efficient results.

Unlike traditional BI which offers unique customizable packages for its customers, on-demanded BI are simplified and tries to offer standard package software that meets customer demand in the best possible way.It is this attribute that make it affordable and easy to deploy.

Advanatges of on-demanded includes:

Flexibility and scalability: unlike normal BI it doesn't need any structural changes in the organization as it is internet-powered , thus it can easily be integrated into any organization with less resource requirement and its data visualization makes it easy to scale and assess different pieces of information.

Pricing: set up cost and maintenance cost is very less compared to BI as it doesn't require any investment on data centers .Only the subscription fees has to be paid thus reducing installation cost , employee cost and other direct and indirect cost that a normal BI gets associated with.

Less responsibility: since the work takes place over cloud less employee requirement is less ,The privacy, safety and maintenance duty of saas is handled by service providers thus companies using it can work efficiently.

Cons of on-demanded BI are:

Security and regulations: Putting sensitive data into a thrid party data base is always a risk, mismanagement of the data by the service provider or their staff can put the company into trouble .

Hidden Costs:

prices may not always be transparent, customization, and the addition of extra modules or packages can be costly.

Lack of Customization:

Unlike normal BI saas or on-demanded is less customizable thus making it less of use for unique customers and their business. It is this same lack of customization and offering simplified and standard product what makes it less costlier.

customizable vs. configurable solutions

Configurable Solutions: these are that solution that allows the owner to customize or design certain aspects of the system Configurable software is flexible, scalable, and can be continually shaped to meet an organization’s industry-specific and organization-specific needs. They are standardized as well.

Implementation time is greatly reduced: it can be deployed in no time as the system is standardized and simplified.

the cutting edge of technology:Service providers can provide latest service and technology to their valuable customers as they receive regular feedback fro many customers and also its their key competitive area, thus delivering the latest and cut edge technology for the competitive market and for business to survive and grow.

Updates to the system are typically free: the service providers usually provide free security and other resource updates so as to ensure a stable and strong relationship with customers .But in custom ones companies have to develop their own updates and packages which is costly and time taking.

Low ownership cost: The ownership cost is as low as just subscription fee for a particular period no other investment or hiring is required thus cost of ownership is low.

Security of sensitive data is main concern as it is stored in a third party server , it's security is always at steak .

This is not suitable for industries and companies that have a unique way of functioning ,it suitable for companies within an industry where data process handling is somewhat similar .highly suitable for Companies with minimal invest capabilities in technology as cost is lower and upgradings are easier.

customizable solutions: specifically and only for one customer, thus making it more complicated to be maintained requiring engineers. This kind of packages are used in companies where tailor end softwares are required for informational processing or for developing competitive advantage in companies own way .

Expensive: The implementation and deployment of customizable solutions are expensive it requires proper plan ,blue print before hand ,hectic purchases of components and procurement skilled and knwoledged workmen is also necessary.

System is static and do not evolve with industry: obsolete technology can't be competitive and it keeps consuming more than what it is supposed to give .It consumes not only money but also time ,material and human resources as well.

Privacy: Data privacy and security is ensured as it is managed by organization themselves. The data breaching is prevented thus sensitive datas safety is ensured .

Flexibility:Since the package is custom made it can be made as per users requirements, they can frame it's in accordance of what they want thus generating competitive advantage out of it ,if properly planned and implemented.

This highly suitable and profitable only in Industries where companies with in that industry have completely different way of information processing and for companies that are financially more stable as cost of implementing and upgrading are very high and are most necessy inorder to maintain competitive advantage.
