A heat capacity measurement is the process of adding energy as heat to a substance. In this kind of process, which state functions would you expect to change? which non-state functions depends on the details of this process???
According to I law of thermodynamics,
Q = U + W Where, Q - Heat Energy supplied to the system by the surroundings
U - Change in internal energy of the system
W - Work done by the system on the surroundings
When we supply heat to the system there is a change in the state function, internal Energy and the non state function, work
According to the relation between the heat and change in temperature,
Q = mc T
m - mass
c - specific heat capacity
T - Change in Temperature
Q - Heat energy supplied
The state function, temperature changes
State function - Thermo dynamic parameter independent of path
Non state function - Thermodynamic parameter depends on path
So state functions expected to change are Temperature and internal Energy and the non state functions depends on the process are heat energy and work done.
