An air stream at 87.8°C having a humidity H = 0.030 kg H2O/kg dry air is contacted in an adiabatic saturator with water. It is cooled and humidified to 90% saturation. (a) What are the final values of H and T? (b) For 100% saturation, what would be H and T?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The above problem can be solved with the help of Psychrometric chart. With the help of initial conditions of T = 87.8C and H = 0.030 , we can plot the point. Then final condition is 90% saturation. Hence we will go parallel to adiabatic saturation line andthe intersection of that line with 90% saturation will give us the required condition of T and H.

Similarly for 100% saturation, we will go till 100% saturation curve parallel to the adiabatic saturation line and intersection with 100% saturation curve will give the reuired condition of T and H.

for 90% saturation, T =42.5C , H = 0.05

for 100% saturation , T = 41C , H = 0.052
