In: Statistics and Probability
The survey is out of 29 people
My workplace has a safe environment
22 strongly agree
5 agree
2 undecided
I feel committed and involved in my work
Stongly agree: 19
agree: 4
undecided: 5
Strongly diasgree: 0
disagree: 1
Question: (if it needs to count as more than one question it is okay, I just have a lot of classes and need help with this so I can do other homework :).
Conduct an analysis and hypothesis test of your choice on the data you collected. Write a 250-500 word research summary of the findings generated in the assignments for Topics 2 through 5. The research summary should address the following.
Explain what type of analysis and hypothesis test was conducted on the data collected.
Summarize the survey results based on the results of the data you analyzed.
Include the Excel analysis as part of the document.
Here, we have to conduct an analysis and hypothesis test for the given scenario. We will choose the survey question asking whether the workplace has a safe environment or not. Here, we will construct the z-test for population proportion for checking the claim whether the percentage of peoples who strongly agree is more than 75% or not. We will assume the 5% level of significance for this test. The null and alternative hypotheses for this test are summarised as below:
Null hypothesis: H0: The percentage of people who strongly agrees that their workplace has a safe environment is 75%.
Alternative hypothesis: Ha: The percentage of people who strongly agrees that their workplace has a safe environment is more than 75%.
H0: p = 0.75 versus Ha: p > 0.75
This is one tailed test. This is an upper-tailed test/ right-tailed test.
We are given
Level of significance = α = 0.05
Total number of favourable items = X = 22
Total number of items = n = 29
Sample Proportion = P = X/n = 22/29 = 0.758621
Test statistic formula is given as below:
Test statistic = Z = (P – p) / sqrt(p*(1 – p)/n)
Where, P is sample proportion and p is population proportion.
Test statistic = Z = (0.758621 - 0.75)/sqrt(0.75*(1 - 0.75)/29)
Test statistic = Z = 0.107215
Upper critical value = 1.6449
(by using z-table or excel)
P-value = 0.4573
(by using z-table or excel)
Here, P-value > α = 0.05
So, we do not reject the null hypothesis that the percentage of people who are strongly agree that their workplace has a safe environment is 75%.
There is insufficient evidence to conclude that the percentage of people who strongly agrees that their workplace has a safe environment is more than 75%.
