Expert Solution

The payroll system is an automated system used to process wages and salaries of employees. To process the wages and salaries, certain data is required for each employee. There are two sources for this data: forms filled at the beginning of employment and attendance recors.

The forms filled at the beginning of employment contains details such as the name of the employee, the numbers mandated by the government of the country etc. Further, a bank account number is also taken from the employee. This bank account number is attached to the payroll data for electronic transmission of the amount due to the employee. The salary structure of the employee, deductions and the amount due per month are already entered in the payroll system.

The attendance system is important to understand the number of days for which salary has to be processed. This is especially important for contractual employees as they are paid on a per day basis. This data is found in the attendance register or the biometric attendance system if it exists. Paid leaves and the leave balance is also used in processing the salaries and wages.
