Is energy conserved in the heating effect of an electric current experiment? what are the major sources of error in this experiment ?
yes, energy is conserved in the heating effect of electric current. In an isolated electric circuit the amount of heat released will be equal to amount of electric energy utilised.
talking about the error in experiment:
The question is very brief, so I will be too.
In any experiment involving currents there are many possible sources of error, here are a few systematic ones.
You might have a zero error on analogue current and voltage meters (digital usually better) This can be adjusted out though
Your meters might effect the circuit to a discernible amount. For example, a low resistance voltmeter might alter the current through a component (digital usually better)
You will have some resistance in all your wires and especially connectors.
If using chemical cells you might have changing pd’s as the experiment proceeds
resistances can change with temperature if the circuit has any heating element.
But really, it depends on the experiment.
