Organizations must find the best candidate for a job among a pool of many applicants. Which basic selection criterion do you feel is the most critical in hiring? Give a rationale for your decision along with examples:
The most basic and critical selection criteria for hiring are education and experience. The candidate must have relevant education and experience in order to get hired for the position. Every position requires a set of knowledge and experience to perform the job and without the education and experience of the same, the hiring remains irrelevant for the work to be done. Skills and abilities usually come with the experience and they can be further earned by the employees once they start working over various projects. Personal characteristics are built with time through interactions and collaborations with teams and members. Hiring for fit should only be seen when the candidate has education and experience relevant for the job. There are various programs that the company can conduct in order to make the candidate most fit with the organization such as cultural programs. Therefore, the basic selection criteria that I feel are most critical in hiring are education and experience.
