Global Warming

Global warming is the temperature rise on earth and rise in temperature of climate than usual. It affects landmass as well as oceans as well. Main culprit in raising these are greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse Effect

It is the situation when heat gets trapped in earth’s atmosphere, when sun rises it gives heat to that part of landmass and due to greenhouse effect heat rhymes trapped causing average temperature rise on earth’s surface, melting of glaciers, rising sea levels at alarming rate causing cities at risk of getting sink.

Greenhouse gases

  • Water vapor
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Methane
  • Hydrofluorocarbons
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Ozone
  • Chlorofluorocarbons

Ways to safeguard earth from Global Warming

  • Awareness among a large number of the population using Print Media, TV commercials.
  • Discussion by teachers among young students, encouraging them to participate in such awareness activities.
  • Replacing old 100 W bulbs with fluorescent light.
  • Using public transport more often it will reduce emissions
  • Recycling
  • Tree plantation drive
  • Using renewable source of energy such as Solar, Win and tidal
  • Reducing waste
  • Cycling or walking for short distances instead using car
  • Using high energy efficiency home appliances

Slowing Down Global Warming Reputable scientific studies continue to show that the Earth is warming at an unsustainable rate because of a rise in the release of CO2 and methane gases. Reflect on your daily life. How may the rise of these gases influence how you live your life? What steps can you take to cut down the amount of these gases released into the atmosphere?
