Slowing Down Global Warming Reputable scientific studies continue to show that the Earth is warming at an unsustainable rate because of a rise in the release of CO2 and methane gases. Reflect on your daily life. How may the rise of these gases influence how you live your life? What steps can you take to cut down the amount of these gases released into the atmosphere?

Expert Solution

Global temperature or global warming rising due to excessive emission of CO2 into atmosphere. Massive and unbridled industrial activities are responsible for emission of carbon. If it continues at current speed, there would be undesirable outcomes for whole planet. It influences our lives in following ways:

  • Excessive emission of gases have made environment polluted and myriads diseases and ailments are affecting people.
  • Glaciers are melting and water level of oceans rising, such phenomena is making lives of people vulnerable who are living close to coastal areas.
  • Excessive gases emissions have led to extreme weather conditions such as excessive rains or excessive dry seasons.

Above points highlight that global warming is making our lives more vulnerable and future is likely to become more crisis ridden.

Following actions can be taken address the problem of global warming:

  • Government can impose taxes or pigou taxes on activities that responsible for emission of carbon.
  • Government can also offer subsidies for firms to switch to clean energies.
  • There must be easy transfer of clean and sophisticated technologies from developed to developing countries.

Millennium development goal (sustainable) 2015 -30- is doing great job in guiding whole planet towards the safer and sustainable world.

geography: Several scientific studies have linked human-induced global warming to increased probabilities of extremely heavy precipitation events and/or to increased intensity of extremely heavy precipitation events in some parts of the world. What property of the atmosphere explains this connection between global warming and increased heavy precipitation? Name two ways that an atmospheric inversion can form.

The spinning Earth is slowing down. Our days are getting longer. The effect is real, and so we have to add "leap seconds" to our clocks every 100 years to account for it. What is causing this? Also, why is the distance between the Earth and Moon increasing? Use physical concepts.

Suppose that new data indicates that the global economy is slowing down, and we are heading for another global recession. As a result, there is pessimism among domestic consumers and investors affecting consumer and investment spending. (i) Show this development using Aggregate demand/Aggregate Supply (AD-AS) model of the domestic economy clearly. (Hint: Begin with the AD-AS diagram for the economy that shows the economy is in long-run equilibrium). Make sure to label the variables represented on the X-axis and Y-axis...

One question that is included in their surveys is: “Do you think that global warming will pose a serious threat to you or your way of life during your lifetime? In the past, 33% of Americans surveyed answered ‘Yes’ to this question. In January 2020, 405 of the 1012 Americans surveyed answered ‘Yes’ to this same question.   Does this 2020 data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that Americans...

Although studies continue to show smoking leads to significant health problems, 20% of adults in the United States smoke. Consider a group of 300 adults. If required, round your answers to four decimal places. Use Table 1 in Appendix B. If your answer is zero, enter "0". c. What is the probability that from 35 to 70 smoke? Used continuity correction factor. A binomial probability distribution has p = .20 and n = 100. If required, round your answers to...
