Introduction: There are various types of technique which are used in the projects of the companies. So PERT is also a type of technique which are generally used in the projects. And PERT technique helps in setting the time to accomplish the given project in the said time.

Meaning of PERT: PERT stands for Program Evaluation and Review Technique is a type of method of technique and analysis which is used to examine the given tasks to complete within time limits. In other words , it can say that PERT is a statistical tool which helps the project in completing their tasks in the minimum time limits. A PERT has a various types of charts and diagrams which helps to show the events, time limits in the project. And those different tasks has to complete in a specified manner within the given time limits. A PERT formula is - [ PERT AVERAGE +/- STANDARD DEVIATION = PROBABILITY]

PERT Projects: A PERT project was first used by the US Navy in the year 1950 and the name of the project was Polaris Missile Project. And in the 1957 the CPM (Critical Path Method) technique was first developed. And CPM is also a technique but it helps in the construction projects.PERT and CPM is almost similar types of techniques which helps in analyzing the given tasks which needs to complete within the given time limits in a specific manner in a particular project. But the main difference between PERT and CPM is that PERT has a dependencies on the time limits of the project but the CPM used mainly in the construction projects. PERT is all about the techniques which are generally used in the firing, missiles etc.

APA: APA is an American Pyschological association which consists of different types of scientists, educators, students, researchers etc who does the research and development of the project and uses these types of techniques to analyze the project events and try to complete within the time limits. So one of the reference can be Polaris Missile Project is a finding of APA which has used PERT technique in the year 1950.

PERT Steps: These are the various steps follows while using PERT technique:-

  1. Identify the activities
  2. Determine the tasks
  3. Prepare a chart or diagram.
  4. Specifies the time limit
  5. Analyze the critical path
  6. Modify the chart to PERT chart or diagram.
  7. Examine the project
  8. Action on the Project.

Summary: PERT is a Program Evaluation and Review Technique is a technique and analysis of the projects and helps in accomplish the tasks within the given time limits. It is a statistical tool which is used in analyzing and examining the tasks , events , time limits of the projects. APA is an American Pyschological Association is a research and development association which has a lot of findings. PERT is also a finding through by APA and it has first developed by US Navy in 1950 and it is firstly used in the Polaris Missile Project. PERT is always used in the projects like Missiles.Firings,Bombings,War etc.In PERT has various steps which needs to follow to accomplish the project within the given time limits.
