The Implicit Association Test (IAT) measures attitudes and beliefs that people may be unwilling or unable to report. The IAT may be especially interesting if it shows that you have an implicit attitude that you did not know about. For example, you may believe that women and men should be equally associated with science, but your automatic associations could show that you (like many others) associate men with science more than you associate women with science." (Harvard IAT)

Please take the Race Test and also the Gender Career Test but feel free to explore and take more and discuss in your forum post.

1. Click the link https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html and scroll down to the bottom of the Preliminary Information page and click the agreement, "I wish to proceed."

It may ask you a few demographic questions before bringing you to the actual test. Answer these questions or select decline to answer.

2. Click continue and start the test.

3. Post a one paragraph discussion response based on the prompt below.

After taking one of the IAT tests, please post a one paragraph discussion on something of value from the experience, something that you took away, or something that you learned. Reflect on your current understanding of the unconscious roots of thoughts and feelings and how this test made you aware of your unconscious biases.

Skin tone test

what I learned?

my result indicated that I slightly prefer light people over dark skin people

result is described as an "Automatic preference for Dark Skinned People over Light Skinned People" if you were faster responding when Dark Skinned People and Good are assigned to the same response key than when Light Skinned People and Good were classified with the same key. Your score is described as an "Automatic preference for Light Skinned People over Dark Skinned People" if the opposite occurred.

Your automatic preference may be described as "slight", "moderate", "strong", or "no preference". This indicates the strength of your automatic preference.

The IAT requires a certain number of correct responses in order to get results. If you made too many errors while completing the test you will get the feedback that there were too many errors to determine a result.
