Stances that include stable or unstable equilibrium.Describe five stances used in sports and the reason for using those particular stances
Stance refers to the athlete's standing position while playing the sport which helps to maximize the strength, speed and power. The stance should be such, which helps in easier movement of the athlete. An athlete's ability to change his direction/position is largely related to their center of gravity. The lower your center of gravity the easier it is to display the agility. This is because this position of body quickly absorb and produce force.
Different stances used in sports are:-
Scissors move in football, in this, if you're standing upright and haven't properly loaded the backside of your body, it will be hard for you to safely and efficiently push off your grounded leg and change direction.
In basketball, dribbling the ball and before putting the ball into the basket, lowering your body and then taking a bigger jump is also example of this.
In cricket and baseball, the batsman's stance by moving their hip a little lower towards the back to gain some power and strength is also example of this.
In badminton, tennis, the players never stand upright but by moving their back a little lower which helps them for faster movement. Center of gravity plays an important role here.
The athlete who are going to run a race, the always start the race by bending down and then starting it, rather than starting it by just standing upright, this bending provides them momentum which helps them to increase their speed.
