How do techno-optimists and pessimists differ in their
ideas regarding the benefits of technology, the value of
technology, and the issue of control?
Techno-Optimists:- They believed that technology can continually be improved and can improve the lives of people, making the world a better place. A techno-optimists also think that technology has consistently improved our lives for the better and is likely to do so in the future. In considering societal problems, you think that the solution lies in technological innovation.
Techno-Pesimists;-
They believed that that modern technology has created as many problems for humanity as it has solved. The pessimist believes that seeking more technology is likely to bring about new problems and unforeseen consequences and dangers. Given that the pessimist sees technology creating its own problems, the answer to human progress often lies in a reduction of technological dependence, rather than an expansion of it.
An optimists argue that new modes of production will be an adequate (if not superior) alternative or they believe new business models will evolve to support professional media. On the other hand pessimists argue that all the new choices are largely false choices just more force-fed commercial propaganda; concerns about advertising and also worry about “digital sharecropping” where small group of elites make money off backs of free labor.
Optimists believes that modern technology like internet is a tool of liberation & empowerment and it can educate people. On the Other hand pesimists believes that internet is tool of frequent misuse & abuse.
