Suppose that abnormalities in an association area of the brain were linked through research to serious criminal behavior. Would you be in favor of mandatory testing of individuals and surgery to repair or remove those abnormalities? Why or why not?

answer must be at least two complete paragraphs (250 words)

Expert Solution

If abnormalities in an association area of the brain were linked through serious criminal behavior then I might favor the testing but will not favor the removal of these abnormalities through any invasive procedure. As we are aware that behavior of any person has bio-psycho-social basis. So focussing on only biological basis might be biased. There are other sources of repairing the psychology of humans which is behavior training, psychological interventions, psychosocial therapies. So, according to me I would choose non invasive procedures for modification of behavior of criminals.

Another aspect is of the hardcore criminals, who are psychopaths or serial murderers. The law definitely has to punish or jail them on lifetime basis. The removal or repairing of brain areas in such cases may lead to either increased effect of abnormal behaviors or any motor/nonmotor complications for that person. The question is , what if removal of the association area caused more irreversible behavior issues?

Good Luck!

Suppose water is leaking from a tank through a circular hole of area Ah at its bottom. When water leaks through a hole, friction and contraction of the stream near the hole reduce the volume of water leaving the tank per second to cAh 2gh , where c (0 < c < 1) is an empirical constant. A tank in the form of a right-circular cone standing on end, vertex down, is leaking water through a circular hole in its...

Suppose you were investigating this research question: What is the impact of state tax and regulatory policy on long run (10 years or more) state economic growth? 1. Express a simple equation expressing the functional relationship (construct) of this research question along with other possible influences on long run state economic growth. What is the dependent variable, (causal) independent variables of main interest, and control variables? 2. What might be a way to specifically measure (operationalize) the dependent variable? 3....

Suppose we need to connect Computer Network Research Lab (CNRL) network with address 167.89.0.0 through a router to the EE Department network with address 123.0.0.0 and connect CNRL network through a router to the EE Research network with address 222.22.2.0 . Please draw a diagram for this network connection. Choose IP addresses for each interface of each router and show several hosts on each network, with their IP addresses. Please briefly explain each step.

Suppose you were designing two experiments to measure the same quantity “Y”. Through analysis of both experimental systems, found; Experiment 1, Y depends on a X2 , and for Experiment 2, Y depends on Z4. Here, “X” and “Z” are names of variables that you can measure in the lab. If you have the same amount of resources to perform and equal number of measurements, which experiment should you perform (there is a correct answer here!). Explain your rationale

Suppose data made available through a health system tracker showed health expenditures were $10,348 per person in the United States. Use $10,348 as the population mean and suppose a survey research firm will take a sample of 100 people to investigate the nature of their health expenditures. Assume the population standard deviation is $2,500. What is the probability the sample mean will be within ±$150 of the population mean? (Round your answer to four decimal places.)
