1. estimate the relative efficiency between the big and small solar cells using tungsten lamps. how do you make sure the measurement is as accurate as possible?
2. find the capacitance-frequency and capacitance-voltage characteristics of different types of solar cells. what does the data means in terms of physical process within the solar cells and why it so different from each other? carry out the measurement in bright and dark environment.
3. measure the iv characteristics of different solar cells. what are their open circuit voltage, closed circuit current and the fill factors? why are these values so different between different types of solar cells? (hints , answer might be able to be found from 2)

Solutions

Expert Solution

1 )

In between small and big solar cell the solar energy trap by big solar cell is more .

To check it we can use Tungsten lamp . The intensity of the light detects the amount of energy recieved in terms of efficiency . Solar cell with big pannel is more efficient and response is better .

To make sure that it appens we can use multiple Tungsten lamps.

2)

Capacitence - frequency characteristic of solar cells are inversely related to each other (nonLinearly).

Capacitence - Voltage characteristics of solar cells are directly related to each other (Linearly) .

In terms of solar cell the light trapped basically defines the capacity and the output depends on the storing capacity In bright and dark environment both changes are nearly same.

3)

IV characteristic are similar to that of Capacitince since it acts as capacitor in energy storing .

Open circuit voltage is when the Load is not connected to the output of solar cell .

Closed current can be found by using the load at solar cell output and gettig the value of current .

In between different types of solar cells due to capacity the values are different

Solar electricity cost. Despite all the advantages of using solar cells to harvest solar energy, solar electricity still has an insignificant share (~1%) in the world’s overall energy supply picture. This is mostly due to the economic consideration. While there’s virtually no fuel (sunlight) cost and maintenance cost once the solar panels are installed, the initial cost of solar electricity systems is still the obstacle for wide-spread adoption of solar photovoltaic technologies. a.
