Describe what it means that your statistical analysis was statistically significant at the p-value of .05? What does this really mean
Statistically significant at a p-value of 0.05 means that there is significant difference between means exists.
In general, we have
Null hypothesis H0: There is no significant difference between the means
against Alternative hypothesis H1: alteast some means are different.
and we reject the Null hypothesis H0 if the p-value is less than 0.05 and do not reject null hypothesis H0 if the p-value is less than 0.05. where is used as a cutoff point to reject or not reject H0.
dictionary meaning of significant is noticeable.
So, statistically significant at a p-value of 0.05 means we reject the null hypothesis that is there is no noticeable difference between means and accepting the fact that there are some means which are significantly different.
