How may grams of solute are needed to prepare the following solutions?

1.000L of 240.0M NaCl

250.0 mL of 0.135 M CuSO4

500.0 mL of 0.370 M CH3OH

Also, please tell how you got answers so I can know how to get calculations myself. THANK YOU :-)

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) The mass of NaCl required to prepare 1.0 L of 0.240 M NaCl = (0.240 mol/L)(1.0 L) (58.44 g/mol) = 14.02 g

2) The mass of CuSO4 required to prepare 250 mL of 0.135 M CuSO4

                                                                = (0.135 mol/L)(0.250 L) (159.61 g/mol) = 5.386 g CuSO4

3) The mass of CH3OH required to prepare 500 mL of 0.370 M CH3OH

                                                                = (0.370 mol/L)(0.5 L) (32.0 g/mol) = 5.92 g CH3OH
