A magnetic field is along the xy plane and the z plane is perpendicular to the magnetic field. In which plane(s) is the magnetic flux the greatest? Please explain.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Magnetic flux = dot product ( B. A ) = B . A cos

A = Area vector [ which is perpendicular to the surface of the body , if the body is lying on X-Y plane then the area vector is towards Z axis]

B = Magnetic field

So , if the magnetic field is in XY plane then the area vector will lie along the XY plane to get maximum flux as cos 0 =1 , in the equation   = dot product ( B. A ) = B . A cos .

So the body should lie on Z-X and Z-Y plane .

You hold a wire coil so that the plane of the coil is perpendicular to a magnetic field vector B. Vector Bis kept constant but the coil is rotated so that the magnetic field, vector B , is now in the plane of the coil. How will the magnetic flux through the coil change as the rotation occurs? Check all that apply. The flux is unchanged because the magnitude of vector B is constant. The flux increases because the angle...
