The data set has two variables one is microprocessor speed (MHz) and the other is power dissipation (watts). It can be observed that the power depends on the microprocessor speed, since the microprocessor chip has so many features for computing and performing all calculations then the usage of power will be affected along with the speed. Here power is depending on speed of the microprocessor.
So, power can be considered as dependent variable and speed can be treated as an independent variable.

Therefore, the microprocessor speed (MHz) can be considered as an
independent variable and power (watts) can be treated as dependent
variable.
