The diet here we will be discussing is about Keto diet which is highly popular and is known to be a weight loss diet. The keto diet is basically a low carbohydrate and high fat diet where the carbohydrate intake is reduced with increase in fat intake. This is aimed at putting the body into ketosis where the fat is primary used for production of energy. It is also known to lower the sugar level in the blood and insulin level even. This helps in weight loss because the body tends to use the glycogen store first for energy but as the source is depleted, it switches its mechanism and starts utilizing fat for energy which helps in reducing fat content in the body. Yes, it is possible that initially it is possible for a person to successfully lose the weight, but maintenance of the keto diet is very difficult. There are many downsides as well of the keto diet.

During this type of diet, most of the meals must be high fat which can include meat, fatty fish, eggs, dairy products like cheese, butter etc., nuts, avocados, seeds, peanut butter etc. all the high carbohydrate food must be avoided. Restricting the consumption of carbohydrate can help in breakdown of the fat and hence it helps in losing weight. However, there are some downside to the same as it can lead to fatigue and poor energy cause hunger issues, digestion problem and low energy. It can also lead to change in the water concentration in the body. Keto diet is best when you have the goal to lose weight quickly. This diet largely emphasize on fat burning. There is a shift to ketosis type of metabolism which helps in burning the fat and using it for production of energy for regulation and metabolic activities.
