Why does every element want a Nobel Gas electron configuration?
Noble gas configuration is the electron configuration of Noble gases. The basis of all chemical reaction is tendency of chemical element to acquire stability. For some main group element chemical bond formation often results in a complete electronic configuration resembling a Noble gas. According to Kossel and Lewis approach noble gases did not have tendency of taking part in chemical reaction under ordinary conditions. On the basis of this conclusion they proposed a theory of Valency which says that " During the formation of chemical bond atom combined together by gaining losing or sharing electron in such a way that they acquire nearest noble gas configuration.".. hence every system has tendency to acquire the state of stability or a state of minimum energy and so chemical element take part in chemical reaction to acquire a stable electronic configuration similar to that of it's nearest noble gas.
