Excel features a variety of number formats. Is there a difference between the Accounting format and Currency format? If so, what is the difference in a detailed description
Firstly, In excel the shortcut for formatting is Ctrl + 1.
There are variety of number formats. Of them we are going to discuss Accounting format and currency format.
There are no major difference between accounting and currency formats but minor differences exist. Those are described with the following example:
Type the following numbers in Excel as follows:
If we format these numbers into accounting format then these will be displayed as follows:
That means accounting format aligns the dollar symbol($) to the left and shows (-)sign for Zero value.
If we format these numbers into Currency format then these will be displayed as follows:
That means currency format shows the dollar symbol next to the number and for zero values it shows as $0.00.
These are the minor differences between accounting format and currency format in excel.
