Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans) A combined-cycle power plant uses both gas and steam turbine for power generation.

The positive impact of the power plant is by producing up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel rather than by a traditional simple-cycle plant. The waste heat from the gas turbine is routed to the nearby steam turbine, which generates extra power.

The positive impact to culture of this community is by generating more number of jobs which can given be local community there by developing the lifestyle of the community. The community can get regular income from power plant.

Coming to the negative impact,  The burning of fuel creates exhaust gases and other by-products, including air pollutants. Power plant emits pollutants into the air and water thereby it eliminates the opportunities for others to purchase or use the land. It will affect the existing fishing community as the fishes in the sea may die due to pollutants there by community will be deprived of their livelihood.

If the land to be used for the power plant is a “greenfield” parcel with mostly vegetation (crops, pasture, or old-field vegetation), there would be impacts on land use, soils, and wildlife present on the site.
