Boron trifluoride (BF3) is the prototypical Lewis acid. What irreducible representation(s) are spanned by the F-B-F bend(es)? Are these IR-active, Ramen-active, or both? Draw a depiction of the stretch(es) and identify them as symmetric or antisymmetric bends, if appropriate. Note if any of these bends are degenerate.
(I think that the bends are one degenerate E' and an A2". If this is right, it looks like the E' is both IR and Raman active and the A2" is just IR active, please double check!)
What I am really stuck on is what these bends look like!
I asked this question before and I was given the B-F stretchs rather than the bends! What I need is drawings of the bends (presumably they are an E' and an A2") I need these drawings to show the dirrectioallity of the bends (either symmetrical or antisymmetical) with arrows drawn on BF3 to show the dirrectionallity.
Thank You
