summary of trees by Joyce kilmer
I need a summary from the trees by Joyce Kilmer
The poem "trees" written by Joyce Kilmer talks about the significance of trees and it's connection with the God. The poem starts with the poet saying that he will never see a poem that is lovelier than a tree. He is comparing a tree with a poem. Trees depend on water for their survival. The line ‘A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed’ symbolizes the roots of the tree that stick to the ground for the purpose of sucking nourishment from the ground. According to the poet, the roots drink the ‘earth’s sweet flowing’ this is the water that is required for the survival of the tree. The line “A tree looks at God all day” implies that the tree moves upwards which appears to be trying to get the God. The tree ‘lifts her leafy arms to pray’ this symbolism used to represent the connection that tree makes with God as human does and the tree is praying to the God. Trees provide shelter to the birds in summer. The branches of the trees are symbolized by ‘trees hair’. During summer, the birds take rest on the trees by making nest. Here bosom refers to the trunks of the tree. During winter, the trunks of trees are usually covered in snow and cold. The trees are able to tolerate the cold due to their rigidity and robustness. The trees flourish in the rain effectively. In the final two lines, the poet says that no person on earth can outdo one of God's creations. Poems are written based on person’s imaginations but trees are God’s creation. The poet describes himself and other poets as a fool to express his inferiority to the creativity of the God.
