Service at Organization: Machine annual maintenance service at the organization as a part of preventive maintenance of the plant equipments.

Value Stream mapping: It is the lean manufacturing methodology technique which use to document, analyze and improve the business process of the organization by keeping the value added things and removing the non-value added things from the process.

Machine Annual Maintenance Service Baseline: Currently we are using the services of Ms ABC Machine Services for the annual maintenances of our plant machines. This services calls for 2 period check cycle with need basis servicing of the machines upon reporting of any problem within 4 hours of complaint reporting.

Application of Value Stream mapping: We need to apply the Value Stream mapping to this business process of maintenance for the machines at the plant. Methodology will be followed as below

Service Process Documentation: WE will document the service process with all the process events required for carrying out the annual maintenance service for the plant level machines. This documentation will make the necessary data which will be helpful for further analysis.
Analyze the Process events and recorded data: In this process stage we will analyze the process steps, events, and the recorded data of the machine issues. This analysis will help us to remove the non-value activities/events from the process and will help to understand the value added events/activities for the service process.
Improve the service process: based on the analysis of the process, we will plan the improvement action of removing the non-value added activities and improve the value added activities, so that we will get the optimized process based on the application of the Value stream mapping technique in business services.

Thus the process can be redesign by removing the identified non-value added activities and keep the value added activities, thus the process is transformed from baseline process to lean process with the application of value stream mapping technique. This is the improved process and lean process.
