2. Is this model applicable outside of the automobile industry? Why or why not?
Just in time approach can be switched to dream it approach for a manufacturer. Just in time approach works effectively even with collaborative and alternate techniques. Just in time approach is useful for reducing cost and improving work flow. It effectively schedules material for arriving whenever it is needed and at right time. It helps for improving the quality of the product.
The approach helps for reducing carrying costs which are linked with the costs of inventories. It helps for maximizing the use of space and the quality of results is improved.
It is the important approach which helps for enhancing management and necessary for productivity (Schonberger, 1982). The manufacturer will be able to adopt to dream it approach.
The same concept however cannot railways be applied outside automobile industry. The model cannot be applied on a standard level. It needs to take into account the differences and the changes too. The model cannot be uniformly applied. It has to take into account the features, requirements and changes while applying it outside automobile industry.
