Draw and label a diagram showing the different
sampling techniques. You must draw this manually (pencil and
paper or digitally drawn in your electronic device), then capture
the image. Attach this image to your post for other to
respond. Then describe the image in paragraph
format.
Sampling is the process of selecting a sample to provide an adequate description and inferences of the population. There are different sampling techniques or sampling types .The two main classifications are:
Probability sampling: Some form of random selections are used.
a) Simple Random sampling: All subsets of the frame are given an equal probability. Random selection is used. It can be selected using lottery method or random-table method.
b)Stratified sampling methods: Population is divided into different stratas and subsample are randomly selected from each strata.
C) Cluster sampling: The population is divided into clusters . The sample is collected fully from the selected cluster.
d) Systematic random sampling: Here all the units are ordered in the sampling frame. Then every nth number on the list is selected.
e) Multistage sampling: It is carried out in stages using smaller and smaller sampling units at each stage.
Non probability stages: The probability of each case being selected from the total population is not known.
a) Convenient Sampling: Here sampling involves choosing respondents at the convenience of the researcher.
b) Quota sampling: It is same as that of Stratified sampling in which the population is first segmented into mutually exclusive subgroups.
c) Judgemental sampling: Researcher employs his or her own "expert " judgement about.
d) Snowball sampling: The research starts with a key person and introduce the next one to become a chain.
