Feminism in the United States are divided chronologically into first, second, third and fourth wave feminism.
The first, second and third feminism fought for greater liberation, individualism and social mobility. The women's suffrage movement was decades long fight to win the right to vote for women in the United States.
Therefore, as compared to the past, the women's role changed a lot. They attained their position of equality in most of the cases. According to the 2017 Gender Gap Index measurement of countries by the World Economic Forum, U. S is ranked the 49th on gender equality. On the contrary to the past, Feminist movement of today more broadly looks at immigration, multiculturalism and inter ethnic relationship. Fourth wave feminists use print, news and social media platforms to speak about feminism.
