Population Response to the Corona Virus
(Children vs. Adult vs. Elderly)
The epidemic of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread rapidly from China to all over the world1. Millions of cases of this outbreak have been documented worldwide. Adults are more susceptible to COVID as compared to children2. The symptoms of this diseases are mild in children then mature adults3. As compared to adults and geriatrics, children are less likely to protect them selves due to touching and sneezing4. The treatment uses antiviral drugs. The discovery of new antiviral agents and their successful clinical trials is necessary for getting a drug approved for COVID. With respect to children, the clinical trials in children must follow ethical principles. The experimental drug must be selected from among the drugs available in the market. All the clinical must have minimum sample size with necessary statistical significance. The trials performed on adults must be performed with an aim to decrease the chances of severe adverse events. The trials on elderly require special care. The hospitals must be equipped with ventilators when performing trials on elderly. 5,6. A well planned trial is necessary in children, adults as well as in elders.
