True-
Erector Spinae muscle are large, disorganized group of muscles that consists of 3 columns of muscles-(9 Muscles)
1.iliocostalis- Iliocostalis cervicis , Iliocostalis thoracis & Iliocostalis lumborum
2.Longissimus- Longissimus capitis , Longissimus cervicis & Longissimus thoracis
3.Spinalis - Spinalis capitis , Spinalis cervicis & Spinalis thoracis
These Muscles run vertically on either side of the spine from lower back of the skull alongside the lumbar, thoracic,& cervical sections of the spine down to the Pelvis .
Action:
1. Back extension
2. Lateral back flexion
3. Lateral back rotation
*Spinalis capitis , Spinalis cervicis: Extends neck & rotates head
*Spinalis thoracis: Extends vertebral column
* Longissimus Capitis :Rotates head & pulls backward
*Longissimus Cervicis:Longissimus Cervicis
*Longissmus Thoracis: Extension, lateral flexion of vertebral column, rib rotation
*iliocostalis Cervicis: Extends cervical vertebrae
* Iliocostalis Thoracis : Extension, lateral flexion of vertebral column, rib rotation
* Iliocostalis Lumborum : Extension, lateral flexion of vertebral column, rib rotation
