According to Davis and Moore, society must motivate more qualified people to fill important positions by offering greater wealth. Please challenge this theory

Solutions

Expert Solution

  • As much as it is important to motivate highly qualified people to get good jobs according to their talents and education along with greater wealth, the success of any society also depends upon strengthening the weak as well. Providing opportunities for people who have lesser or no education, giving them opportunities for skill development will help strengthen them and make them capable of doing jobs and earning for the welfare of their family.
  • Social inquality is inevitable according to Davis and Moore but this can be overcomed if people and government works towards resolving the problems of scarcity of resources.
  • Control of access to training by powerful and privileged groups creates artificial scarcity of talent which can be overcome.
  • One of the problems of modern societies,is the chaotic and inefficient ways in which labor forces are trained and rewarded. Inept progeny of rich tycoons take over companies while intelligent children of workers go uneducated. Modern societies allocate their collective labor forces inefficiently, wasting talented but poor people in humble positions and suffering from the inept sons of the privileged in powerful positions.
  • To remedy this problem, using public schooling to sift and winnow children according to their native abilities, educationally prepare them according to their potential and see that they end up in jobs that paid them accordingly.
