Hardware and Network Plan

Create a network for a company that sells shoes. Describe the hardware needed and the size of the network (PAN, LAN, WAN) and make a flow chart or mind map of the network.

The description should be at least 500 words. The flow chart or mind map should have at least 12 boxes, each box should be labeled and the flow noted.

The main thing I need help with is the flow chart or the mind map! Please help!

To create a network for the company that sells shoes will required WAN that is Wide Area Network as the company can have several LAN (Local Area Network) inside the main network so, the size of the network will be WAN(Wide Area Network).

Here is the list of Hardware needed to build WAN,

1. Modems:: The Modems are used for modulation and demodulation. This needs to convert digital signal to analog signal which should be transfer over a telephonic network as WAN uses telephonic network to travel in wide area. There are several modems which perfom in different way to convert a signal based on the performance of the modem and the way it perform as receiver or transmitter. Based on the way it perform it is categorized as internal or external.

Internal modem can be place inside the computer in Industry Architecture Slot and Peripheral Component Interconnect slot and because of this, it does not need extra place and cable outside computer. But internal modem are bit difficult to configure as it need several things to configure.

External modem have some advantages over the internal modem as it provide the status light for power on/off, connected/disconnected, data transmission on/off and it can be easily attach and configured. But this modem required external power plug and place, it also required cable to connect to the computer. To run external modem we required serial port to the machine as well and to configure it, drivers also needed.

2. Adapters:: To connect the number of devices in a network we require adapters. Adapter can be use to connect difference modules in a network. Important adapter needed are ISDN and DSL, an ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) or DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) these are nothing but terminal adapter as it connect the terminals used in the network. If the line is digital it does not modulate/demodulate the signals.

These adapters are also internal and external same as modem, thus it is upto the requirement how we want it. DSL adapter require at both the terminals.

3. CPE:: This equipment used to hold the all devices together and from this we will come to know the devices present in the network and required devices. we can say it a assembly point of required hardware in network. CPE stands for Customer Premises Equipment. These are used for processing transmissions on WAN links such as X.25, FrameRelay and etc.

Coming to the basic hardware requirement they are,

For Point to point:: Requires a minimum of 2GB and more RAM, minimum of 16 GB and more disk space and 2 Central Processing Unit(CPU) Cores.

For Multisite:: Requires 1GB additional RAM per remote peer, minimum of 16GB additional disk space per remote peer. If possible add 1 CPU Core per remote peer for good network performance.
