  • Bandwidth
  • Scalability
  • Interoperability
  • Quality of Service

Note any areas where you may want or need some further explanation.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Comparison between ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and Ethernet:

ATM Ethernet
Bandwidth ATM is trying to increase the speed (bandwidth) which is provided by Ethernet. Ethernet have brought more bandwidth to the network technology through LANs.
Scalability ATM uses both LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network), but it is more fit with WAN. Ethernet is mainly based on LAN alone.
Interoperability

ATM LANE has been developed in order to be properly pursued in old LAN and to easily operated on the desktop.

i.e., the LAN interoperates with ATM technology.

Gigabit Ethernet is the version of Ethernet and it delivers data with speed of 1000 Mbps with fiber-optic cables. However, the operation concept of LAN in Ethernet will not be changed.
Quality of Service ATM is the top network system to transport data, voice and video till now. So, the quality of service is best with ATM. Even Ethernet also having high quality of service.
