PKA3:
6. Should secondary use of consumer provided data be available without notice to the consumer?
7. How do data mining and predictive analytics work?
8. Watch this Science Friday video by Ira Flatow. And, offer your opinion - Are advancing algorithms taking our free will?
9. Should Facebook be regulated, at least as far as it's privacy and data policies?
10. How many public cameras is too many?
6. A formal notice should be given to the consumer before making it available for further use. If while collecting the data the consumer gives his/her consent to use the data for any purpose that the entity wants for then it is not necessary. But in other cases to stay in the legal side consumers should be given the notice to get the permission.
7. Data mining is a process for which computer assistance is needed to analyze an enormous amount of data to extract the meaning hidden within the data. For example from the customer database by analyzing their age, gender and other demographics it is possible to understand the customer behaviour for the products that a company is producing.
Predictive analytics works by analyzing the historical data to understand the trend and to predict what would happen in future. For example, in share market investment people analyze the previous year balance sheet to find out whether a company can give them a good return in future or not.
8. The advancing algorithm can not take our free wills because we will be the person to decide that whether we are going to take the help of the algorithm for our decision making or we are going to lead an autonomous disconnected life. So we have the decision making power at the end.
9. A regulatory body is needed for these social sites to check whether our privacy is being protected or not. Otherwise, even if we do not give them the permission to use our data for a particular purpose they might use it so an entity must be there to act as the watchdog.
10. Public cameras will be considered too many when they will act as useless means when they are installed in such places where there is nothing to surveillance. The number of Cameras should be determined on the basis of potential risk that a citizen might face in that particular area.
