Epithelial tissue is not characterised by the ratio of ground substance to the fiber volume,as well as type of matrix.
It is the connective tissue which is characterized by the ratio of ground substance to the fiber volume, as well as type of matrix.
Except option c ,all options are correct.
Epithelial tissue is avascular i.e.it does not contain any direct blood vessel within the epithelium.And it exchange waste and nutrients through diffusion with neighboring tissue.It may be active diffusion or passive diffusion. The vascularised structure present beneath the epithelium is the connective tissue.It contains blood vessels and exchange nutrients with the epithelium.
Epithelium can be characterized by the shape of the cells into following types -
1) Squamous epithelium - The shape of the cells are flat in squamous epithelium.
2) Cuboidal epithelium - The cells have same height and width in this type of epithelium.
3) Columnar epithelium - Cells are tall columnar in shaped . The height is more than the width of the cells.
4) Transitional epithelium - Cells of this type of epithelium permits expansion.
Epithelium can be defined by number of cell layers present -
1) Simple epithelium - Contains single layer of the cells.
2) Stratified epithelium - Contains more than one layer of cells .
3) Psuedostratified epithelium - False stratification is present . Cells of different heights are present which gives appearance of stratification.
