3. Specify a technique that you think could be used to determine the validity and a technique that you think could be used to determine the completeness of gathered requirements for an automated in-store supermarket shopping system?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Checking Validity:

  • Requirements Review: This means that the engineer thoroughly analysis the requirements of the system after a detailed discussion with the client. The engineer himself systematically studies the requirements and tries to find answers to all the situations that might arise.
For the in-store supermarket shopping system, the developer should take help from previous projects to gauge the scope of requirements of the system. Having detailed interviews and discussions with the stakeholders will also help in better review of the requirements.

2. Checking Completeness:

  • Prototypes: This involves developing a model of the system and using it as a preliminary device to check for real world use. Many hidden requirements can be unveiled using a prototype. Some modules might also be deemed unusable or redundant (not required).
In the case of in-store supermarket shopping system, a model of the system can be deployed in a few stores to verify their performance. All data/feedback received from these prototypes will be helpful in developing the final system.
  • Test-Cases: Generating as many test cases as possible also helps to check the validity of the system by mimicking real world scenario. The testing can be done by the developers and/or the users.
The developer can use previous similar projects to find test cases for the in-store supermarket shopping system. Other general test cases applicable for all systems should also be run to check for robustness of the system. .

Respond to this discussion, what feed back could you give? Correlation is a statistical technique used to determine the relationship between two or more variables (Thomas, Nelson, & Silverman, 2015). This is a way to determine if there are positive or negative relationships between variables in research. For example, if someone were to research the effect of different amounts of creatine monohydrate supplementation in high school athletes, they may notice a correlation between the amounts of supplementation and the athletes...

Exit polling is a popular technique used to determine the outcome of an election prior to results being tallied. Suppose a referendum to increase funding for education is on the ballot in a large town (voting population over 100,000). An exit poll of 500 voters finds that 240 voted for the referendum. How likely are the results of your sample if the population proportion of voters in the town in favor of the referendum is 0.51? Based on your result,...
