What is the function of the trp operon?
What is tryptophan?
What is an operon?
What is a promoter?
What is an operator?
What is a repressor?
Answer ----
Operons are generally defined as the functional unit of the transcription and regulations of the genetic material.
The function of the trp operon is to synthesize the tryptophan which is very helpful for the ecoli when there is demand of the tryptophan or it is not available then the trp operon works and this is present in ecoli bacteria.
trp operon functions is to make the tryptophan when it is required and so the regulation of the tryptophan occurs in trp operon
Ecoli need tryptophan to build there protein so if they get from the environment they use to make protein and if they don't they use synthesize with the operon.
Operon are the functional unit that are concerned with transcription and genetic regulation and they use to synthesize the molecule for which coding occurs.
These trp operons are activated when their is low tryptophan and gets suppressed when there is sufficient tryptophan by the repressor part.
There are three types of the genes in the trp operon which are promotor , repressor and the operator.
Promotes are the sequence of the nucleotide which acts the RNA polymerase binding site that initiates or promotes the process of transcription
When the single stranded RNA is formed from the double stranded DNA it is called transcription.
And RNA polymerase is the protein that makes the RNA and this RNA polymerase binding site is promoter..
These sequence recognize the RNA polymerase and let the process occurs fast.
Operator in the trp operon are those that are site of repressor and the protein group that recognizes the site of DNA is operator.
These repressor are useful in stoping the process of transcription when there is sufficient tryptophan present around.
The co-suppressor molecule tryptophan gets attached to the repressor and makes it active and then it binds to operator and switches off the trp operon and when there is not tryptophan around there is no activation of the repressor and operon goes on.
