Psychology can be defining I certain words to illustrate the meaning of it. Write the definition. Write three different areas of psychology that you most like them, writing why you like these arcas.
In ancient times psychology used to be studied as a branch of philosophy. The philosophers did not lay any stress on the actual experience in their treatment of psychology. They only indulged in metaphysical discussions with regard to the nature of the self that thinks.
Now psychology is treated as a distinct science separate from philosophy. Psychology is the only science that adopts introspection as one of its methods of investigation. Introspection gives us the knowledge of the state and process of our own mind only. introspection gives us knowledge of our own minds. It does not give us any knowledge about the working of other persons mind.
Psychology deals with the mental states and process of an individual. It never deals with mind as such and related as any individual. Natural science is interested in the discussion of an object as it appears to everybody that is, search sciences discuss the nature of an object independent to its relation to an individual mind but when psychologist discuss the nature of a mango the discuss it as it is perceived or tested by the individual.
There are different areas of psychology like child psychology, experimental psychology physiological psychology and abnormal psychology. Child psychology deals with the mind of child. It discusses how the mind of a child develops. It deals with the process of the child's motor activities, intelligence, emotions, attitude to society and so on. It also discusses the contributions of heredity and environment and also how these two factors work in the development of the child's mind.
The experimental psychology cannot be treated as branch of psychology in the ordinary sense of branch because experimental psychology does not deal with particular aspect of psychology. Experimental psychology consist in employing experiments in the various fields of psychology. The main characteristics of experimental psychology are to employ experiments in the study of mind and to build a psychology based on the materials obtained from such experiments.
Abnormal psychology is a branch of psychology that studies the mental states and processes of abnormal mind. It is, of course, difficult to clearly define the nature of abnormal mind. The characteristics of various abnormalities are discussed in this field.
