A. How do Sinclair and Nield Chew use writing to affect change in society? Expert Answer
In The Jungle, urban civilization is called a savage place, full with cruel beastly people. When a lobor would be ill and could not work, they would not paid and there was no medical facilities for the da Tory workers. In the letter Crew Factory Girl, there is same problem of the life of the factory labor. Everywhere they would face difficulty. The labours were not permitted to form union. In the letter of Crewe Factory girl, there is mentioned how the discriminations would be maintained in the payment amount the lavors. The condition of the women workers was more painful and they would be victim of great injustice.
In both the writings, there is indicated the need of establishing union of the labors. All the labors needed a place where they could voice their need. In The Jungle, we find how the labors like Jurgis were victim of great injustice. There was no labor act. In The Jungle, socialist movement is shown and the aim of this movement is to establish rights of the labor. Socialism establishes equality and this is the organization of the labors and proletariat rights must be established.
Socialism aims to abolish the class division. It is the movement by the working class people. Forming union is a part of the socialism movement. Ada is very glad when she comes to know that the factory authority permitted the labors to form union. All the labors at that period greatly desired the equality and their basic rights to be granted. It made them optimistic. Such optimism has been incarnated by Jurgis and Ada.
