What is the pH of a 0.1911 M HCl solution? What is the (OH-]?

What is the pH of a 0.1911 M HCl solution? What is the (OH-]?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Concentration of HCl = 0.1911 M

The dissociation reaction of HCl

HCl = H+ + Cl-

[HCl] = [H+] = 0.1911 M

pH = - log [H+] = - log (0.1911)

pH = 0.7187

pOH = 14 - pH = 14 - 0.7187 = 13.2813

pOH = - log [OH-]

13.2813 = - log [OH-]

[OH-] = 10^(-13.2813) = 5.2324 x 10^-14 M
