1. Plasma proteins:

a. Plasma proteins accounting for about 15% by weight of plasma volume.

b. Plasma proteins are produced by the bone marrow.

c. Plasma proteins composed of globulin, fibrinogen and immunoglobulin.

d. Albumin accounts for some 60% of plasma protein.

2. Human heart:

b. In the fetus, foramen ovale as a normal opening between the left and right ventricles.

c. As a role all arteries in the body carry oxygenated blood and all veins carry de-oxygenated blood.

d. Left side of the heart contains oxygenated blood.

6. Blood is not coagulated inside human blood vessels because of:

a. Presence of erythropoietin hormone secreted by the kidneys prevent blood coagulation.

b. Heparin is a natural anticoagulant that inhibits the intrinsic pathway of coagulation.

c. The anticoagulant oxalate is secreted by the kidneys to prevent blood coagulation in the blood vessels.

d. The liver secretes EDTA to the blood that prevents blood clotting.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans 1 - Albumin accounts for some 60% of plasma protein.

Plasma proteins, are proteins present in blood plasma which serve many, including transport

of lipids, hormones, vitamins and minerals and functioning of the immune system. Other blood proteins act

as enzymes, complement components, protease inhibitors or kinin precursors.

All blood proteins are synthesized in liver except for the gamma globulins.Serum albumin accounts for 55%

of blood proteins, is a major contributor to maintaining the oncotic pressure of plasma. Globulin and fibrinogen

are other major proteins.

Ans 2.  Left side of the heart contains oxygenated blood and right side of heart cintains deoxygenated blood.

--> As a role all arteries in the body carry oxygenated blood and all veins carry de-oxygenated blood, except

Pulmonary artery which contains deoxygenated blood from right ventricle to lungs and Pulmonary veins

which carries oxyegenated blood from lungs to left atrium.

Ans 3   The gall bladder: has neck, body and fundus.

---> PH of gall bladder is betwwn 7 to 8

---> Liver is the largest gland of the body.

Ans 4 lymphocyte

Agranulcyte cells - Lymphocyte and Monocyte

Granulocyte cells - Neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil

Ans 5 Left side human lung contains three lobes while the right lung contains two lobes.

---> Taste buds are located in the oral cavity.

----> The diaphragm separates thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity

Ans 6 . Blood is not coagulated inside human blood vessels because of Heparin is a natural anticoagulant

that inhibits the intrinsic pathway of coagulation.

1. Total plasma volume is important in determining the required plasma component in blood replacement therapy for a person undergoing surgery. Plasma volume is influenced by the overall health and physical activity of an individual. Suppose that a random sample of 45 male firefighters are tested and that they have a plasma volume sample mean of 37.5 ml/kg (milliliters plasma per kilogram body weight). A decrease in plasma volume will decrease plasma hydrostsatic pressure. This can be detected by the cardiovascular baroreceptors which send a signal to the cardiovascular control center which sends nervous impulses to the arterioles to constrict. Constriction decreases flow to the capillary beds, in turn decreasing flow out of the capillaries at the capillary beds served by this arteriole. This prevents further decrease in plasma volume. Is this an osmotic mechanism? Is this a homeostatic mechanism? Is it negative feedback?...
