Platform as a service (PaaS)
Cloud platform services is additionally referred to as Platform as a Service (PaaS) which offer cloud components to certain software while being employed mainly for applications. PaaS delivers a framework for developers that they'll build on and use to form customized applications. All servers, storage, and networking is managed by the enterprise or a third-party provider while the developers can maintain management of the applications.
Fetures of PaaS:
Examples of PaaS ::: AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Windows Azure, Heroku, Force.com, Google App Engine, and OpenShift.
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
Cloud infrastructure services is additionally referred to as Infrastructure as a Service are made of highly scalable and automated compute resources and is fully self-service for accessing and monitoring computers, networking, storage, and other services. Infrastructure as a Service allows businesses to purchase resources on-demand and as-needed instead of having to buy hardware outright.
Features of IaaS:
Examples of IaaS ::: DigitalOcean, Linode, Rackspace, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cisco Metacloud, Microsoft Azure, and Google Compute Engine (GCE).
A good example of IaaS is AWS EC2.
EC2 provides scalable infrastructure for companies who want to host cloud-based applications.
EC2 users do not own the physical server, AWS provides virtual servers.
IaaS | PaaS |
♣A service model in cloud computing that provides virtualised computing resources over the internet. | ♣A cloud computing model that deliver tools necessary for application development over the internet. |
♣IaaS is used by System Administrator. | ♣PaaS is used by Developer. |
♣User get virtual data center to store information and create platform for services and app development, testing and deployment. | ♣User get virtual platform and tools to create, test, deploy apps and services. |
♣Servers, storage, networking and vertualisation is under the control of Provider. | ♣Servers, storage, networking and vertualisation as well as operating system, middlewareand runtime is also under the control of the provider |
♣Operating system, middleware, runtime and data is under the control of the User. | ♣Application and data is only in under control of the User. |
