I will be discussng about DC generators

Principle of DC generators

  • The aim of a generator is to convert mechanical power into electrical power and to do that we use Faraday 's law principle which says that rate of change of flux induces induced voltages ".So In order to achieve that we use following
  • A Magnetic flux which is provided by two magnets and direction is from north (N) to south (S).
  • A conducting coil which can rotated in that flux.which will produce changing magnetic flux and so induced voltage
  • Now, with the help of any mechanical energy in any way like due potential energy of water in a dam , or pressurised steam in a thermal plant, rotate the coil and by that we can have E.M.F generated.

Coal is burned at an electric power generation plant at a rate of 150 kg/minute with 8% excess air (dry). The coal has a composition (mass based) of xC (kg C/coal), xH (kg H/coal), xS (kg Sulfur/coal) and xash (kg ash/coal). The coal produces 20 kg/minute of ash. The outlet gases, on a dry basis (i.e. we exclude any water from the calculation), have the composition (volume basis): yCO2=0.1418, yCO=0.024, ySO2=0.003, yO2=0.027, yN2=0.8042. Calculate the coal composition, air demand and...

Faraday's Law: What would you observe about the amplitude of an induced signal as the frequency varied? Describe whether the behavior is consistenent with Eq. 3 (Vo= w(Nd)A(Bo)cos(theta)). Newton's Law of Cooling is based on the principle that the rate of change of temperature y'(t) of a body in an environment with ambient temperature A is proportional to the difference b/w the temperature y(t) of the body and the ambient temperature A, so that y'=k(A-y) for some constant k.
