Social Networking Sites were initially developed to share funny messages among friends, then extended to college, to country and now it has taken the toll of the whole world. We could hardly find someone who is not on the social networking site. The constant technological development in smartphones and tablets have revolutionised the mobile technology and has brought the SNS on the palms of everyone including infants and aged people.

So far, people were dependent on print media and mass media but social networking media has personalised that experience by creating a virtual world for each individual and at the same time making it universal. They serve as the medium to connect existing friends, form new friendship, sell and buy goods, find services etc. This multipurpose use of social networking sites have made them popular among the youngsters.

Another important thing these sites have given is that people are able to share their views on different social issues freely without being afraid of anyone. They can spread news faster than the speed of light. Social networking sites have been a platform of information sharing for many fight against social evils. Business is another area that thrives because of social networking sites. People find social networking sites as very good place to advertise as it is cost effective.
