It is an autoimmune disorder, with most of the Patients having antibodies against acetylcholine receptor (AChR antibodies) in the serum.(These Antibody Inhibits the action of Neurotransmitter Acetyl Choline,Which is responsible for communication between the nerve and muscle at Neuromuscular junction)
also, Anti-acetylcholine receptor antibodies are present in about 80%- 90% of patients with myasthenia gravis.
Hence,The negative result for acetylcholine receptor antibodies rules out Myasthenia Gravis as a diagnosis.
