What is the HPA axis and how does it control cortisol? Please draw a diagram
ANSWER: HPA axis - Hypothalamus, pituitary, Adrenal gland - When these three are co-ordinating and performing in the body is called HPA axis. In that way it will control the cortisol hormones.
Cortisol hormone- It is the stress hormone, due to some issues our body will attain stress stage, in that time cortisol hormones released in the blood stream and maintain the body in normal stage.
How it control - when our body in stress our brain (hypothalamus) send signal to the pituitary gland by secreting hormones called CRH- corticotrophin releasing hormones.
when this hormone released to pituitary gland, they will come to know that our body in stress so it will secretes hormones called ACTH - Andreno corticotrophic hormone to the kidney. So cortisol is the hormone secreted in the kidney.
And kidney will releases the hormone and maintain the body during stress period.
