What is Group Problem Solving? Explain the different types of problem-solving techniques. Please explain what technique you think is most effective and why?
Group Problem Solving
Group problem solving refers to the process of bringing together all the stakeholders who will participate in decisionmaking through analytical decision-making techniques and abilities that can influence the outcome of the problem. The use of groups in problem-solving is encouraged as groups tend to evaluate diverse solutions and action plans.the purpose of involving all the stakeholders is to find the best solution of the problem by considering diverse and creative solutions.
Different types of problem-solving techniques are:
1. Lateral Thinking: In this technique, the problem is being solved through an indirect and creative way that is the most obvious and involves ideas that are far away from traditional thinking or procedures.
2. Trial and error: In these techniques, the problem is being solved continuously by implementing various solutions until it gets resolved or the person stops.
3. How to solve it: This technique of problem-solving is used in large projects when the environment and circumstances are highly unpredictable and dynamic. In involves a step-by-step procedure for solving problems by considering the aim and alternatives as well.
The technique that I would think is the most effective is How to solve it. The reason is that it is the technique that takes into account the objective, alternatives, and thorough study of all the alternatives before choosing one. It follows the steps:
